About Lydia

My journey to becoming a doula started when I had my daughter. Through the self learning and the exceptional support and education we received from our doulas, our daughter came into the world exactly the way we wanted. The most beautiful experience that changed me into who I am today.
I am deeply passionate about sharing knowledge, care and support with other women so they can appreciate the beauty, intensity and life-altering experience of childbirth.
I trained as a doula because I believe every woman deserves to feel safe, supported, and sacred as she brings life into the world.
As a doula, I bring:
-
A calm and nurturing presence
-
Evidence-based knowledge
-
Intuitive, heart-led care
-
A commitment to supporting your choices
I support women all over East Anglia and the surrounding areas.

FAQ's
What is a doula?
A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to a birthing person (and their partner) before, during, and after childbirth.
Why hire a doula?
Hiring a doula can lead to a more positive birth experience. Studies show that doula support often results in shorter labors, fewer medical interventions, and higher satisfaction with the birth experience.
What’s the difference between a doula and a midwife?
A midwife is a medical professional who provides clinical care during pregnancy and birth, these will change throughout pregnancy and based on shifts. A doula, on the other hand, offers continuous (during pregnancy, birth and postpartum), non-medical support - focusing on comfort, education, and advocacy.
Do doulas replace partners?
Not at all. Doulas work alongside partners, helping them feel more confident and involved. Many partners find that having a doula allows them to be more emotionally present.
When should I hire a doula?
The earlier, the better! Many families hire a doula in the second trimester to build a relationship and prepare for birth together. However it is never too late for our support!
Can I have a doula if I’m planning a hospital birth / epidural / C-section?
Absolutely. Doulas support all birth plans and settings — whether natural, medicated, or surgical.
Can a doula attend a home birth or birth center birth?
Yes — doulas support births in all settings: hospitals, birth centers, or at home.
Is a doula only for first-time parents?
No — doulas support all kinds of families, including those having their second, third, or fifth baby. Every birth is unique!
